Mathieu Oliveira - corporate leader by day, photographer at night

Pandemic beard available for a limited time only.

Mathieu Oliveira
When no pandemic threatens humankind, Mathieu enjoys taking time away from his professional life to explore the globe - camera in hand.  When a pandemic does occur, he tends to travel more locally in function of his pre-pandemic whereabouts.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, his photography was analog until a development studio ruined two precious 35mm films taken in Trinidad.  Bitterly upset, he transitioned to the digital age and embraced the self-reliance of developing his own pictures through a personal computer, a familiar technology that shaped his childhood evenings (after homework and piano practice, of course).
Mathieu grew up in Canada, in an agricultural French-speaking township not far from Montréal.  After his undergraduate studies, a backpacking trip around Europe cemented his passion for both travel and photography.  He started his professional life in Atlanta and, due to his stature, continued his quest for aisle seats whenever business class was out of reach.
While educated in electrical engineering and business administration, no classroom prepared him for photography.  Self-thought, he owes most of his fundamental techniques, tips and tricks to a long-ago discontinued French edition of a National Geographic book purchased at a foregone local bookstore.  Due to an international assignment, Mathieu currently lives abroad and the book resides in a cardboard box on a separate continent along with other literature.
